2) The Home Inspectors Guide to Geothermal Heating Systems

Course L2990-02 (2 credits) September 28 from 8 - 10 am
Join us as we dive into familiarization and understanding of modern day heat pump technology, with a strong lean towards geothermal systems and how they work. We will begin by going over the basics of modern heat pump technology. Friends, these are not your grandfather's heat pumps! We will delve into the history of this type of system, the methods of operation and heat transfer; the different types of heat pump systems, such as traditional air handler and mini-split systems and the cycle of operation of each type. We will also discuss how to inspect these increasingly popular systems and go over the basics of geothermal systems. We will conclude the class by running through step-by-step procedures for inspecting these systems during the course of performing a home inspection, to include full inspection report documentation necessary to meet required standards.

4) How and Why We Report What We Report

Course L2866-02 (2 credits) September 28 from 10:15 am - 12:15 pm
Let's review some of the many problem conditions that we as home inspectors are expected to report on during the course of a home inspection. We will give you insight as to why and how to improve statements designed to both inform clients and protect you, as an inspector. We will break down a standard statement into bite-sized pieces and help to guide you through how to create your own standard statements. We will give specific examples and hold a round table discussion on each example in order to improve the aspects of our reporting formats. Heating systems can differ, electrical systems can differ, roofs can differ, but the one thing that has to be constant in every inspection is how and why we report what we report!
