2) The Home Inspectors Guide to Heat Pumps

Course L3048 (2 credits) November 13 from 6 - 8 pm
During this course, we will familiarize you with a general understanding of heat pump technology and how these systems operate. We will delve into the history of this type of system, the methods of operation and heat transfer, the different types of heat pump systems, such as traditional air handler and mini-split systems and the cycle of operation of each type. We will also discuss how to inspect these increasingly popular systems. We will conclude the class by running through step-by-step procedures for inspecting these systems during the course of performing a home inspection, to include full inspection report documentation necessary to meet required standards.

After a decade as the owner/operator of a residential construction company, Tom Sherman, a 10-year US Marine Corps veteran, became a professional home inspector in 1998. Within a few years, Tom had been chosen by HGTV's Program Creator to appear in the "HOUSE DETECTIVE" series and was featured in 11 episodes. In 2006 when New York State instituted the Home Inspector Licensing Law, Tom immediately jumped at the chance to become a NY State Certified Home Inspector Educator. Throughout his career, Tom became an ELAP-certified Radon Laboratory, a Certified Residential Thermographer and a Licensed Drone Pilot. As an educator, Tom has worked diligently since 2014 to build NETinspect Home Inspector Training Institute; a training school with a strong appreciation for the in-depth amount of knowledge an inspector needs to competently perform a professional home inspection. Our classes are well researched, targeted to the audience and professionally presented by our group of experts. Join Tom and his team as we delve into the subject matter that will help you to become a more knowledgeable and successful home inspector!

4) Inspecting EIFS Siding Systems

Course L2045 (2 credits) November 13 from 8:15 - 10:15 pm
During this class, we will familiarize you as to the process in which an Exterior Insulated Finish System (EIFS) is designed to be installed. We will discuss the results of improper installation, as well as the consequences that unacceptable installation practice generate. The course will include a series of slides displaying both correct and incorrect procedures and the long-term effects of inappropriate installation. We will also highlight the points in an EIFS installation that are most prone to water entry and how to best evaluate this type of system from a home inspectors standpoint.
