Come join us for the last go-around for the year as we head into the holiday season! End the year with a bang! Two classes worth (4) NYS approved CE credits!

1) Opening remarks

December 9 from 7:45 - 8 am
Welcome and thanks for joining us!

2) Inspecting Exterior Insulated Finish Systems

Course L2698-02 (2 credits) December 9 from 8 - 10 am
We will dig into these systems and the myriad of problems commonly found with the buildings that we inspect with this type of cladding (and there are many). No, we don't typically see a lot of residential structures covered with the EIFS system, though the ones we do are generally high-end houses and you'll not want to walk into one of these inspections without a very good background in what to expect. Water intrusion issues due to improper installation are almost to be expected! And what constitutes proper installation? Where do we find the water intrusion points? Check this class out to find out and protect yourself from the future "phone call"!
Meet the Presenter
Tom Sherman
Tom Sherman
After a decade as the owner/operator of a residential construction company, Tom Sherman, a 10-year US Marine Corps veteran, became a professional home inspector in 1998. In 2006 when New York State instituted the Home Inspector Licensing Law, Tom immediately jumped at the chance to become a NY State Certified Home Inspector Educator. Tom was a 24-year ASHI Certified Inspector (recently stepping down from the organization), a Certified Residential Thermographer and a Licensed Drone Pilot, who has worked diligently since 2014 to build NETinspect Home Inspector Training Institute; a training school with a strong appreciation for the in-depth amount of knowledge an inspector needs to competently perform a professional home inspection. Our classes are well researched, targeted to the audience and professionally presented by our group of experts. Join Tom and his team as we delve into the subject matter that will help you to become a more knowledgeable and successful home inspector!

3) Break

December 9 from 10 - 10:15 am
Grab some coffee and get ready for our last class of the year

4) Deck Inspections & Avoiding a Disaster

Course L2745-02 (2 credits) December 9 from 10:15 am - 12:15 pm
The most common component added to a house is a deck! Interestingly, the most common homeowner-built structure is also, you guessed it, a deck! And the sad truth is, these are built wrong in most instances! One only needs to Google "Deck Collapses" and you can spend hours looking at the negative impact of improper deck construction. Deck collapses injure and kill people! Falls from decks due to faulty guardrail systems injure and kill people! Poorly constructed stairs injure and kill people! And much more! Want to know how to build a deck right? Want to know how to inspect one? That is what this class is all about. We will also give examples of how it has been done wrong and what inspectors should be on the lookout for when inspecting these structures!
