This class is to familiarize home inspectors with a general understanding of Building Science where it relates to the control layers that assist in forming the envelope of a building. We will discuss how air, liquid water and water vapor move within and through a building structure. This class will include both definitions of terminologies and explanations of the components that make up a building envelope, to include the purpose of thermal boundaries, pressure boundaries, as well as the importance of proper placement and installation of these components. Also included will be discussion regarding how mechanical systems affect air movement through a building, how building components which make up a house are interrelated; how all these systems, when correctly installed, can be utilized to create a safe comfortable environment for building dwellers. This class is designed to help guide home inspectors into the 21st century where modern building construction practices are concerned. Great knowledge to be able to share with your clients!!
